Democrats Urge Trump to End Iran War Amid Rising US Casualties

Democrats have urged President Donald Trump to reverse his resumption of the war with Iran, citing widespread anxiety over climbing casualties. Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut accused the president of having "frighteningly lost control of this war" following the killing of three US troops in Iranian strikes. This call comes as US forces launched a 10th consecutive wave of attacks against Iranian targets, with concerns over American service personnel deaths threatening to complicate escalation moves. The conflict had reignited after Trump withdrew from a memorandum of understanding agreed with Iran in June.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards stated on Tuesday that they had targeted US military sites, including air defence systems and a radar installation in Bahrain and Kuwait. The crew of a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz also reported being struck by an unknown projectile. Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan confirmed they had activated defenses to repel these attacks. These actions represent a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict.

The latest casualties have brought the number of US service members killed since the war began on February 28 to at least 17. An estimated 1,700 Iranian civilians have been killed. In the last two weeks of escalating strikes, nearly 100 US service members have sustained injuries, highlighting the severe human cost of the renewed hostilities. The situation remains tense as both sides continue military actions.
