Ann Widdecombe Murder Suspect Appears in Court

Joshua Kerry, 28, appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court this week charged with the murder of former MP Ann Widdecombe. The 78-year-old, who was also a Reform UK spokesperson, was allegedly killed at her home in Haytor, Devon, earlier this month. Prosecutors stated that Kerry is accused of striking Widdecombe on the head with a hammer 21 times. The former Conservative minister's death occurred earlier in July. Kerry was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey next week. The court heard details of the alleged fatal assault during the brief hearing. Widdecombe served as a Conservative MP for Maidstone from 1997 to 2005 and later became a prominent figure in the Brexit movement and a commentator.
