Bode SS27 Collection Reimagines Cowboy Era

Bode's Spring/Summer 2027 collection, unveiled recently, draws significant inspiration from the American cowboy era, specifically the period between 1865 and 1890. Designer Emily Adams Bode Aujla continues her exploration of Western themes, building upon the "Rodeo Bodeo" concept introduced in the Fall/Winter 2026 collection. The SS27 range aims to capture the "peak of the American cowboy era" by integrating cultural references from that time with the ornate embellishments and durable materials characteristic of the period. The collection features a blend of contemporary silhouettes and traditional Western aesthetics, making the historical inspiration accessible for modern wear.

Key design elements in the SS27 collection include playful cow prints, subtle rodeo motifs, and extensive use of heavy suede and leather fringing. One standout piece is a women's ensemble featuring a brown cow print bikini paired with a matching jacket, offering a high-exposure, contemporary interpretation that anchors the collection in the present day. A similar cow print motif appears in a men's look, comprising a jacket and shorts accented with green trims and styled with a green striped t-shirt. The collection also incorporates fabrics adorned with cowboy-themed patterns, such as rope tricks and horses, presented in vibrant colorways. Some of these patterns are more understated, with a gray animal print featuring blue cowboys in mid-lasso poses that are only discernible upon closer inspection.

Fringing, executed in both suede and leather, plays a crucial role in imbuing the collection with its cowboy essence. Brown leather riding pants are detailed with a short fringe running up the legs, while various jackets, including a red blouson with a decorative yoke, showcase more pronounced fringe details. Denim remains a foundational material for SS27, appearing in a camp-collar long-sleeve shirt embellished with star rivets on the pockets, and a chore jacket decorated with folk-style trims around the collar, pockets, and cuffs.
