Yolanda Hadid's Fiancé Builds Master-Planned Community

Real estate developer Randall "Randy" Kendrick is developing Sandow Lakes, a 34,000-acre master-planned community in Rockdale, Texas, on the site of a former Alcoa aluminum plant. The project, located approximately 60 miles northeast of Austin, is described as the "resurrecting of an industrial ghost town" and is intended to include advanced manufacturing, commercial, retail, and leisure spaces, alongside residential villages and workforce housing. The scale of Sandow Lakes is projected to eventually surpass that of The Woodlands, a 28,000-acre community near Houston, and is more than twice the size of Manhattan.
The initial phase of development for Sandow Lakes is The Switch, a 3,300-acre advanced manufacturing and logistics campus designed to be a "fully sustainable Carbon Net Zero campus." This campus is slated for occupancy by the third quarter of 2026. The development is situated within the Texas Triangle, a region already hosting significant industrial facilities such as a Samsung plant, a Tesla gigafactory, and a SpaceX rocket development facility. According to Compass agent Michael Reisor, prioritizing employment opportunities in the development strategy is a sound approach.
While residential housing is part of the long-term plan for Sandow Lakes, the immediate focus is on establishing the industrial and logistics infrastructure. The surrounding area currently offers a "robust inventory" of housing options, with homes typically priced between $400,000 and $500,000. Kendrick's project has gained national attention, partly due to his engagement to former Bravo reality TV star Yolanda Hadid.
