Yohji Yamamoto x The Weeknd Unveil Saeko Tsuemura Art Capsule

WILDSIDE Yohji Yamamoto has launched a five-piece capsule collection in collaboration with The Weeknd, coinciding with his "After Hours Til Dawn Tour." The collection prominently features a previously unreleased illustration by artist Saeko Tsuemura. This artwork is integrated across a range of garments, moving beyond simple prints on basic items to include more complex constructions like tailoring and outerwear, all manufactured in Japan. The most substantial piece in the collection is a jacket crafted from 100% cow leather. This leather jacket is designed in a free size, featuring polyester padding and a cotton lining, with Tsuemura's illustration printed across the back. A distinctive branding element is a brooch that fastens at the collar, combining the WILDSIDE and XO logos, offering an alternative to traditional stitched or printed labels. Complementing the leather jacket is a two-button tailored jacket. This piece utilizes a blend of 57% triacetate and 43% polyester crepe de chine, a fabric selected for its lightweight properties, resistance to creasing, and subtle sheen. It is lined with cupro. The same logo brooch used on the leather jacket is also featured on the lapel of this tailored jacket. Unlike the free sizing of other items, this jacket is available in two sizes. The collection also includes a rayon shirt where the placement of the artwork is inverted. The Tsuemura print appears on the front of the shirt, while the combined WILDSIDE and XO logo is situated on the back. The printing technique employed creates a stark contrast between the background color and the graphic elements, contributing significantly to the visual impact of the garment. This rayon shirt is made in Japan and is offered in a single free size. The capsule further includes two jersey pieces that directly showcase the illustration. One of these is a pullover hoodie, manufactured in the USA from 100% cotton, which prominently displays the Saeko Tsuemura illustration. The collaboration aims to merge the distinct aesthetics of Yohji Yamamoto's design ethos with The Weeknd's artistic vision, using Tsuemura's artwork as a central unifying element across the diverse garment types.
