Warner Bros. Releases Trailer for Iñárritu's 'Digger' Starring Tom Cruise

Warner Bros. Pictures officially released the first trailer for director Alejandro Iñárritu's dark comedy film, 'Digger,' on an unspecified date this week. The trailer features Tom Cruise in a significant physical transformation, portraying Digger Rockwell, an eccentric and aging oil tycoon. Rockwell is depicted as the "most powerful man in the world" who must confront an environmental crisis triggered by his company's operations in Greenland, which inadvertently cause a massive glacier shift.

The film marks the return of the two-time Academy Award-winning filmmaker Iñárritu to English-language features since 'The Revenant.' In 'Digger,' Cruise's character, sporting a Southern accent, a potbelly, and a thinning grey combover, embarks on a mission to position himself as humanity's savior amidst the escalating global conflict threatened by his self-inflicted eco-disaster. Cruise's portrayal has drawn comparisons to his role in the 2008 film 'Tropic Thunder.'

The ensemble cast includes Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, Riz Ahmed, Jesse Plemons, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Sophie Wilde. The movie was filmed using high-definition analog VistaVision and aims to blend high-concept tension with satirical comedy. 'Digger' is scheduled for theatrical and IMAX release in North America on October 2, 2026.
