US Military Conducts 10th Airstrike Night on Iran

The United States military conducted its 10th consecutive night of airstrikes on Iran late Monday, with the stated objective of degrading Iranian military capabilities used to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. These renewed strikes followed the death of an American service member and came after Iran launched attacks on U.S. allies Kuwait, Jordan, and Bahrain, the location of the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet. U.S. Central Command indicated the strikes were designed to further degrade Iranian military assets.

Despite the escalating military actions, diplomatic efforts showed some signs of progress. Iran's interior minister traveled to Pakistan, a significant mediator in the conflict, for talks. However, an interim deal signed last month intended to end the fighting has reportedly collapsed. Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical energy supply route, has largely ceased, and both sides have targeted civilian infrastructure.

A new threat to global energy markets emerged when Iran-backed rebels in Yemen announced plans to prevent Saudi Arabia from shipping through the Red Sea, an alternative route for oil exports. This escalation has contributed to rising oil prices, with benchmark Brent crude trading above $88 a barrel and U.S. regular gasoline averaging $4 a gallon.

The U.S. military identified two soldiers killed in Jordan during attacks that also left a third person missing. Additionally, the military confirmed another death in Iraq on Saturday during the controlled detonation of a downed Iranian drone. President Donald Trump issued a warning on social media, stating that Iran would face severe repercussions for any American soldier's death.
