UNNA SS27 Blends '90s Style With Lightweight Performance Gear
Stockholm-based running label UNNA presented its Spring/Summer 2027 collection at Paris Fashion Week, focusing on making technical gear that is both functional for running and suitable for everyday wear. The collection draws inspiration from retro sportswear, incorporating '90s-era fits with contemporary fabrics designed for movement. This blend is exemplified by the Wavy 90's Tee, a loose-fitting update to the brand's striped shirt, featuring throwback styling.
The collection's performance is driven by its materials. The new Feather family, comprising a T-shirt and a long-sleeve shirt, is constructed from Italian Econyl, a recycled polyester known for its lightweight and mesh-like texture. For bottoms, the Run Wild family includes pieces inspired by board shorts, featuring subtle pleats and integrated technical belts. Notably, the Run Wild Pants offer a convertible zip-off design, allowing them to transform into three-quarter length trousers.
Outerwear in the SS27 range includes the Merino Sport Zip, a hoodie made from a merino blend, designed for layering during chilly starts, cooldowns, or general use. All garments are produced in select EU factories. UNNA's Creative Director and founder, John-Ruben Holtback, stated that the SS27 collection emphasizes "reducing rather than adding," aiming for products that are lighter, simpler, and more versatile. The goal is to create technical pieces that do not overtly appear technical, allowing wearers to transition seamlessly from pre-run activities to post-run life.
The UNNA SS27 collection is scheduled for a global release in Spring 2027 and will be available through select retailers. The brand continues its mission to de-emphasize the intense, performance-obsessed aspects of running, offering technical apparel that enhances the experience without feeling punishing.
