Total CEO: Mideast Oil Producers Eager to Sell Stockpiles

Middle Eastern oil producers are actively seeking to sell crude oil stockpiled during the recent Persian Gulf conflict, according to Patrick Pouyanné, the Chief Executive of TotalEnergies SE. Pouyanné indicated that these producers are eager to reduce their existing inventories.

However, the availability of refined products such as gasoline and diesel remains constrained. This tightness in refined product inventories is attributed to ongoing concerns and disruptions related to shipping routes and logistics. The dual situation of excess crude and limited refined products presents a complex market dynamic.

Pouyanné's remarks highlight a significant divergence in the market for crude oil versus refined petroleum products. While crude is readily available for sale from producers looking to clear storage, the downstream products face supply limitations, likely impacting regional and potentially global fuel markets.
