Startup Redesigns Home Utilities With AI and Design

Everyday^ launched an integrated home infrastructure system on an unspecified date this summer, aiming to redesign often-overlooked home utilities like HVAC systems, water heaters, and air purifiers. The startup focuses on combining aesthetic appeal with artificial intelligence to optimize performance and reduce environmental impact. The first product, the Air^ system, is a heat-pump-connected unit for heating, cooling, and air purification, priced at approximately $2,280 and initially available in the European market.

Cofounder Morten Meisner-Jensen stated that these utilities are critical for daily life and represent significant spending and climate impact, yet they are rarely considered by consumers. Everyday^, based in Copenhagen, seeks to change this by developing customizable devices that integrate seamlessly with modern home furnishings. The Air^ unit features a minimalist design with interchangeable material surfaces, allowing users to personalize its appearance.

Meisner-Jensen, who previously founded Room, a company specializing in stand-alone office pods, was inspired by the unappealing and complex nature of existing home utilities. He described them as industrial afterthoughts rather than intentional components of contemporary living spaces. The company plans to expand its offerings to include hot water systems, energy storage solutions, and comprehensive home energy management systems, further addressing the need for more user-centric and aesthetically pleasing utility infrastructure.
