The 2027 Porsche Taycan Gets Fake Gear Shifts And A Bigger Standard Battery
Porsche introduced a refreshed 2027 Taycan model this week, featuring a larger standard battery and simulated gear shifts to enhance the driving experience. The base Taycan and Taycan 4 models now come equipped with a 97 kWh battery, an increase from the previous 79.2 kWh. This upgrade is expected to provide a significant boost in range, though official EPA figures have not yet been released. The performance-oriented Taycan Turbo and Taycan Turbo S variants will receive an even larger 105 kWh performance battery as standard. Porsche has also implemented a "Gravel Mode" for the all-wheel-drive models, which adjusts the all-wheel-drive system, stability control, and power distribution for improved traction on unpaved surfaces. Additionally, the electric motors have been re-engineered to be more efficient, with the rear-axle motor on all models now being 30% more powerful and the front-axle motor on the Turbo variants 15% more powerful. This powertrain enhancement contributes to faster acceleration, with the Taycan Turbo S now capable of achieving 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds, a 0.2-second improvement. The interior also sees updates, including a revised steering wheel and a standard 16.8-inch digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system has been enhanced with integrated Spotify and Apple Music, and voice commands can now control more functions, such as the air conditioning. The exterior design has been subtly updated with a new front fascia, redesigned headlights, and updated taillights.
