Teruhiro Yanagihara Debuts Numbra Lighting Collection for &Tradition

&Tradition has introduced Numbra, its inaugural lighting collection designed by Japanese artist Teruhiro Yanagihara. This collection, comprising the TY1 Pendant and the TY3 Portable Lamp, embodies elemental simplicity through its use of lacquered oak and tumbled aluminium, creating a minimalist yet expressive aesthetic. The designs prioritize material honesty and tactile simplicity, reflecting Yanagihara's distinct approach to form and function. The Numbra TY1 Pendant is characterized by its linear silhouette, designed to balance clarity with warmth and serve as an elegant centerpiece in interior spaces. Crafted from solid lacquered oak panels and tumbled aluminium fixtures, it incorporates an acrylic diffuser and a stainless steel core to emit a soft, dimmable glow. This pendant measures 122cm in length, making it suitable for communal areas like dining rooms or living spaces. It features a 15W LED light source providing 700 lumens with a warm 2400K color temperature. The TY1 Pendant is also designed with sustainability in mind, utilizing FSC-certified wood, water-based lacquer, and a construction that facilitates disassembly for repair and recycling. The Numbra TY3 Portable Lamp complements the pendant by translating the collection's design principles into a compact, rechargeable format. Standing 25.5cm tall, this lamp is built for versatility, offering gentle illumination for various settings, from bookshelves and bedside tables to outdoor terraces. It includes a three-step dimmer and a rechargeable battery that provides up to 10 hours of use, with a convenient magnetic USB charging system. The TY3 is constructed from oak, aluminium, and sandblasted acrylic, reinforcing the collection's emphasis on natural materials and a refined, understated design. &Tradition, a Danish design brand founded in 2002, is known for its commitment to contemporary design that bridges heritage and innovation, often collaborating with established and emerging designers to create timeless pieces.
