Stranger Things: The First Shadow announces final curtain in London and New York

Stranger Things: The First Shadow, the theatrical prequel to the Netflix series, will close its productions in London and New York this winter. The final performance at London's Phoenix Theatre is scheduled for December 27, and the last show at New York's Marquis Theatre will be on January 3. The London production ran for just over three years and won two Olivier Awards, while the Broadway production ran for just over 20 months and secured four Tony Awards. The announcement follows the November launch of the fifth and final season of the Stranger Things television series, which reportedly broke viewing records for an English-language series on Netflix, achieving 59.6 million views in its first five days and causing the streaming service to experience outages. Despite reports in February that the New York stage production was being filmed for future release, Netflix has not made an official statement regarding this possibility. The stage play has sold over 1.5 million tickets across both locations.
