Sixty percent of U.S. consumers say ‘AI’ in brand messaging is a turnoff, survey finds
Sixty percent of U.S. consumers find the term 'AI' in brand messaging to be a turnoff, according to a survey released this week by WordPress VIP. The study surveyed 1,000 U.S. consumers and found that 58% believe brands should be more transparent about their use of AI in content creation. Despite consumer apprehension, 80% of marketers surveyed by WordPress VIP indicated that AI search is an important referral channel for their businesses. The survey also revealed that 65% of consumers are concerned about AI's impact on job displacement, and 55% worry about the potential for AI to spread misinformation. These findings highlight a significant disconnect between consumer sentiment and marketing strategies increasingly incorporating AI technologies. The survey was conducted between May 15 and May 20, 2024.
