Screens Galore: 2027 Chevy Silverado Debuts a More Modern Cabin

General Motors unveiled the redesigned 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 on June 12, 2024, featuring a significantly updated interior. The truck's cabin now boasts a standard 11-inch diagonal infotainment touchscreen, a substantial upgrade from the previous 7-inch or 8-inch displays. For higher trim levels, a new 11-inch driver information center replaces the traditional analog gauges, offering a more digital and customizable experience. Additionally, Chevrolet introduced an available 15-inch diagonal passenger-side display, a feature previously exclusive to the electric Silverado EV, allowing front-seat occupants to access entertainment and navigation.

The interior enhancements extend to materials and design, with Chevrolet aiming for a more premium and modern feel. The dashboard layout has been reconfigured to accommodate the larger screens and improve ergonomics. The infotainment system itself has been updated with Google built-in, providing access to Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Google Play Store without needing to connect a smartphone. This integration aims to streamline navigation, communication, and entertainment options for drivers and passengers. The 2027 Silverado also includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility across all trims.

Beyond the cabin, the 2027 Silverado 1500 receives exterior styling updates, including a revised front fascia and new lighting signatures. Powertrain options remain largely the same, with the 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and the 5.3-liter V8 engine continuing to be offered. The 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel engine also returns, now with an increased output of 305 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque, a gain of 10 horsepower and 50 lb-ft over the outgoing model. Chevrolet has also updated the transmission calibration for the diesel engine to improve responsiveness. The truck is expected to arrive at dealerships in the summer of 2024.
