Ripple wants AI agents to pay in XRP and RLUSD. The market is still mostly USDC

Ripple launched the XRPL AI Starter Kit this week, providing developers with tools to facilitate payments for AI agents. The kit aims to leverage the XRP Ledger's (XRPL) capabilities, including its speed, low transaction fees, and the stablecoin RLUSD, to attract AI agent transactions. Despite Ripple's strategic push for XRPL adoption in this emerging market, initial activity for the x402 token standard, designed for AI agent payments, has predominantly occurred on other blockchain networks, specifically Base and Solana. This suggests that while the infrastructure for AI agent payments is developing, the broader market is currently favoring established platforms for these transactions. Ripple's objective is to capture a portion of this growing AI agent payment flow by highlighting the advantages of its own ledger and stablecoin.
