Reddit unveils new AI-powered ad tools built on community conversations

Reddit launched new AI-powered advertising tools on May 15, 2024, designed to leverage the platform's extensive user conversations for brand campaigns. These tools aim to help advertisers create more relevant ads, speed up purchase decisions, and enhance campaign performance by analyzing insights from over 25 billion posts and comments. The company believes authentic community discussions are increasingly influential in consumer choices, especially as users turn to Reddit for purchase research and validation, including for AI-generated recommendations. Among the new features is a Free-form ad generator, currently in beta, which combines brand website information with relevant Reddit conversations to create ads that mimic the platform's native long-form post style. Another beta feature, Tailored creative assets, uses AI to identify relevant communities and audience segments, generating customized headlines and image variations for Max Campaigns to boost ad relevance. The Redditor Highlights feature, now generally available, allows brands to integrate real Reddit conversations and community sentiment summaries directly into their advertisements, showcasing authentic customer perspectives alongside organic posts. Reddit is also introducing Shopping Listing Ads, currently in alpha, signaling its expansion into the shopping ad market.
