AI Digital Twins Could Screen Job Candidates Before Human Interviews
Job seekers may soon be able to send their AI digital twins to recruiters for initial screening interviews, according to Ashutosh Garg, CEO of AI talent management platform Eightfold AI. Garg recently launched TwinCafe, a platform where individuals can upload their résumés, LinkedIn profiles, and work samples to create a digital version of themselves. This digital twin can then be shared via a link, potentially placed at the top of a résumé or LinkedIn profile.
Garg believes these digital twins could transform talent screening by allowing recruiters to question a candidate's twin about previous roles, skills, or career gaps before meeting the actual person. This would enable recruiters to reserve time with the human candidate for questions requiring judgment and interaction, thereby improving the quality of the interview. Garg stated, "My main motivation was that a résumé is so limiting," and argued that a digital twin can "fill in the blanks" for aspects of a candidate's background, such as career breaks or industry changes.
Recruiters currently spend significant time verifying résumé information during initial interviews, Garg noted. By offloading some of this fact-checking to a digital twin, the actual interview can become "a lot more focused on the human aspect versus the fact-check aspect," leading to a dramatic improvement in interview quality. Garg envisions a future where recruiters might send their own AI agents to interact with job seekers' digital twins, allowing for the screening of many more candidates and potentially eliminating the limitation of interviewing only a few individuals.
