OpenAI launches product feed ads in Ads Manager beta

OpenAI launched a product feed ads feature in its Ads Manager beta this week, enabling retail advertisers to upload product catalogs and automatically generate ads from individual items. This new functionality allows brands to scale advertising campaigns within ChatGPT by serving users more relevant products during purchase-oriented discussions. Advertisers can now submit their complete product catalogs, with ads being created directly from the feed data, eliminating the need to build campaigns item by item. OpenAI stated that feed-based ads have demonstrated strong performance within its Ads Beta program to date. This development provides retailers with a scalable method to align their inventory with high-intent conversations in ChatGPT, potentially boosting ad effectiveness. The strategy mirrors approaches employed by Google and Meta, which utilize dynamic product feeds to match advertiser inventory with user intent at scale. Retail advertisers participating in the beta can access feed requirements and commence campaign creation using their uploaded product catalogs. This expansion of OpenAI's advertising tools aims to make ChatGPT ads more scalable, automated, and performance-oriented for the retail sector. The update was initially noted by Menachem Ani, Founder of JXT Group, who shared an email from OpenAI on X.
