Oliver Tree, 32, Dies in Helicopter Crash in Brazil

Oliver Tree, the 32-year-old American alternative musician, died on June 14 in a helicopter collision over Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Tree was a passenger on one of two helicopters that crashed in the western suburb of Recreio dos Bandeirantes, impacting the car park of an electric car dealership and igniting approximately 20 vehicles. There were no survivors among the six individuals on board the two aircraft. Tree was in Brazil as part of an extensive world tour scheduled to include over 70 performances across 30 countries on seven continents. Brazilian media outlets confirmed the incident, and a police source informed AFP that Tree's name was on the passenger manifest. The cause of the mid-air collision is currently under investigation. The passengers on Tree's helicopter included a Brazilian music producer, an Argentine video director, and Argentine YouTuber Gaspar Prim, also known as Gaspi. Due to the severity of the fire, formal identification of the victims was pending at the time of reporting. Tree had recently performed in Buenos Aires on June 4 and had shared a video on Instagram the day before the crash, showing him playing football in a Brazilian neighborhood.
