Newcastle reject Spurs bid of about £80m for Tonali

Newcastle United rejected a bid of approximately £80 million from Tottenham Hotspur for midfielder Sandro Tonali on May 23, 2024. The offer, made earlier this week, was deemed insufficient by Newcastle's management. Tonali joined Newcastle from AC Milan in the summer of 2023 for a reported fee of £55 million, signing a contract until 2028. His current market value, according to Transfermarkt, is estimated at €50 million (£42.5 million). The Italian international has become a key player for Newcastle, making 33 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-2024 season and scoring 2 goals. Tottenham's pursuit of Tonali highlights their intent to strengthen their midfield options ahead of the upcoming transfer window. Newcastle, however, has reiterated its commitment to keeping their core squad intact, especially after securing Champions League qualification for the 2023-2024 season.
