La Compagnie Launches New York-Dusseldorf All-Business Flights

La Compagnie, an airline specializing in all-business class service, will introduce a new nonstop route connecting Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in New Jersey to Dusseldorf Airport (DUS) in Germany. The inaugural flight is scheduled for April 23, 2027. This new service aims to cater to business travelers seeking efficient and comfortable transatlantic travel. The airline announced on a Monday that it will operate five weekly flights on this route, with services scheduled for Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. La Compagnie plans to utilize an Airbus A321LR aircraft for these flights, configured with 76 lie-flat business class seats arranged in a 2-2 configuration. This seating arrangement is designed to maximize passenger comfort during the overnight journey. Passengers flying with La Compagnie will have access to exclusive lounge facilities at both departure and arrival airports. This includes the airline's own Lounge&Co at EWR and the DUS Sky Lounge at DUS. Lars Redeligx, the CEO of Düsseldorf Airport, highlighted the significance of this new offering, stating that La Compagnie is providing a "clearly defined product" that is "nonstop, comfortable and designed for people who want to cross the Atlantic efficiently and in a relaxed way." The introduction of this route addresses a gap in direct air connectivity between Dusseldorf and New York. Dusseldorf, a major business and industrial hub in northwestern Germany, currently lacks regular nonstop flights to New York. Aviation analytics firm Cirium data indicates that Condor offers only limited seasonal flights to Dusseldorf during September and October. Christian Vernet, CEO of La Compagnie, described Dusseldorf as a "natural next chapter" in the airline's expansion, emphasizing its position within "one of Europe's most dynamic economic regions" with strong international businesses and historical ties to the United States. He noted that the North Rhine-Westphalia region is well-suited for La Compagnie's "unique all-business-class model." Historically, Dusseldorf Airport (DUS) had more robust air links to New York prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Data from Cirium shows that Lufthansa operated daily flights to EWR from at least 2004 until 2018, when its subsidiary Eurowings took over the route before suspending it in 2020. Additionally, the now-defunct Air Berlin operated flights from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to DUS from 2008 until its cessation of operations in 2017. La Compagnie's new EWR-DUS service will complement its existing transatlantic operations from EWR, which include flights to Milan's Malpensa Airport (MXP) and Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE).
