Netflix Buys Ben Affleck's AI Startup InterPositive for $587 Million

Netflix officially closed a $587 million USD acquisition of InterPositive, an artificial intelligence filmmaking startup founded by Ben Affleck in 2022. This significant investment targets generative post-production technology, with InterPositive specializing in AI infrastructure tailored for filmmakers. The company's proprietary technology assists with real-world production and editing challenges by training on a project's specific dailies to maintain visual logic. This enables crews to address continuity errors, perform complex wire removal, reframe shots, and adjust background elements or lighting during post-production.

The acquisition brings InterPositive's 16-person team of researchers, engineers, and creatives into Netflix's internal development pipeline. Ben Affleck will also assume a role as a senior advisor for Netflix, utilizing his industry influence to promote the adoption of this workflow among other filmmakers.
