Danish menswear label mfpen has unveiled its inaugural collaboration with iconic sportswear brand New Balance, reimagining the Made in UK 991v1 silhouette through a lens of sustainability and minimalist design. This special edition, aptly named "Surplus Leathers," is a testament to both brands' commitment to conscious production, with a strictly limited run of only 90 pairs released on September 3rd. The collaboration breathes new life into excess materials, utilizing upcycled leathers and fabrics that were leftover from New Balance's renowned Flimby factory in England, a site steeped in the brand's manufacturing heritage.

mfpen founder Sigurd Bank expressed that the partnership felt intrinsically aligned with his brand's ethos. He recalled a personal history of styling early mfpen collections with New Balance's "99' series" sneakers, appreciating their "normy, dad-core look" which resonated with mfpen's own aesthetic.
