Meta Connect 2026: VR Glasses, Smart Audio Glasses Debut

Meta officially debuted its Fall 2026 hardware lineup during Meta Connect 2026, introducing a range of new wearables and smart eyewear. The event was headlined by the all-new Meta VR Glasses, a lightweight headset designed for immersive virtual reality experiences. These VR Glasses weigh 100 grams and feature a magnesium alloy frame, pancake lenses, and a 5K display. They are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite chipset, delivered through a tethered puck, and support Dolby Atmos spatial audio and Dolby Vision. The device also enables full-body holographic calling, offering a more advanced communication experience. The Meta VR Glasses provide up to three hours of high-resolution playback on a single charge and maintain full compatibility with the existing Meta Quest game catalog, ensuring a robust library of content for users. The anticipated launch for the Meta VR Glasses is scheduled for Spring 2027.

Expanding its lifestyle wearable offerings, Meta also introduced the Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses. These new smart glasses are camera-less and are priced at $349 USD. They are designed for extended use, offering up to 12 hours of audio playback and enabling hands-free AI interaction. The Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses are available in classic Clubmaster and Burbank frame shapes, blending fashion with technology. In addition to the camera-less model, Meta unveiled the updated Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 frames, priced at $449 USD. These Gen 3 frames feature a slimmer chassis compared to previous iterations and boast 3K video recording capabilities. They are equipped with a six-microphone array for enhanced audio capture and are offered in new Aviator and Zena frame options, providing users with more stylistic choices. Pre-orders for both the Ray-Ban Meta Audio and Gen 3 frames are currently open through Meta, with shipping expected to commence on October 13, 2026.

Beyond the new hardware, Meta Connect 2026 also highlighted significant ecosystem updates aimed at enhancing user interaction and immersion. The platform will introduce hand-tracking capabilities for popular applications such as Beat Saber 3, allowing for more intuitive control within virtual environments. Furthermore, the ecosystem will support Disney streaming services, bringing a wealth of entertainment content directly to Meta's VR platforms. A key advancement showcased was the capability for full-body hologram video calls, a feature that promises to revolutionize remote communication by creating a more present and engaging experience for participants. These software and ecosystem enhancements are designed to complement the new hardware, providing a more cohesive and advanced user experience across Meta's virtual and augmented reality offerings.
