During a TIME100 Talks panel in Cannes, executives from various sectors convened to discuss the evolving role of artificial intelligence in fostering creativity within their organizations. The panel featured Jessica Padula, VP of marketing and head of sustainability at Nespresso USA; Amit Jain, CEO and cofounder of Luma AI; Stefano Volpetti, chief global growth officer at Philip Morris International (PMI); and Nigel Vaz, CEO at Publicis Sapient. A central theme emphasized by all participants was the synergistic relationship between human ingenuity and AI capabilities in driving creative output.

Jessica Padula of Nespresso USA highlighted that AI tools are instrumental in enhancing the user experience, aligning with consumer desires for more deliberate coffee consumption. She stated that AI can help Nespresso educate consumers about coffee through its app, thereby elevating engagement. Padula expressed optimism about AI's potential, noting, "I’ve always said [AI] is going to make good people even better." This sentiment extends to both employees and individuals, suggesting AI's broad applicability in personal and professional development.

Stefano Volpetti from PMI underscored the importance of human-AI collaboration, advocating for a partnership where humans and technology work in concert to achieve superior outcomes. He described AI as a "force multiplier" capable of personalizing experiences and influencing habits at scale, making it an ideal tool for innovation. Volpetti also observed that younger, AI-native professionals exhibit a heightened level of curiosity and a greater willingness to experiment and embrace mistakes as part of the innovation process.

Nigel Vaz, CEO of Publicis Sapient, contributed to the discussion by addressing how AI is reshaping the work habits of younger generations. He suggested that AI is prompting a greater emphasis on continuous iteration and the capacity to "unlearn" as much as to learn, reflecting the dynamic nature of AI-driven environments. The consensus among the leaders was that AI is not a replacement for human creativity but rather a powerful augmentative tool that, when used effectively, can unlock new levels of innovation and efficiency across industries.
