The BRICS bloc, initially formed in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China, has since expanded its membership to eleven nations. This expanded group now represents a substantial portion of the global population, approximately half, and contributes significantly to the world's economic output. A core objective of BRICS has been to advocate for greater representation of developing countries within established global governance institutions and to foster the development of alternative financial systems that offer alternatives to the historically Western-dominated financial architecture. The summit saw the participation of several key leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
