Hyundai Unveils Bold 2027 Tucson with "Art of Steel" Design and New Pleos Infotainment

Hyundai has officially debuted the fifth-generation 2027 Tucson, marking a significant departure from its predecessor with a completely redesigned exterior and interior. This latest iteration embraces the brand's "Art of Steel" design language, a concept previously previewed by the Crater concept vehicle, which emphasizes a larger, more angular, and boxy aesthetic. This new direction moves away from the curvier lines of the outgoing model, presenting a bolder and more assertive presence on the road.

The exterior transformations are immediately apparent. The front fascia is characterized by a full-width lighting bar that seamlessly integrates with distinctive, vertical H-shaped LED daytime running lights. Indirect lighting elements are employed to accentuate the three-dimensional qualities of the front end. The vehicle's profile is defined by squared-off front and rear quarter panels, sharp, angular lines running across the door skins, and substantial rocker panels, all contributing to a striking and robust visual identity. At the rear, the design continues this theme with a prominent light bar and narrow vertical prism lamps featuring three-dimensionally protruding lenses, adding a futuristic touch.

Beyond aesthetics, the 2027 Tucson has grown in its physical dimensions to enhance its utility as a family vehicle. It now measures 185 inches in length, an increase of 2.3 inches over the previous model, and its track has been widened by 1.5 inches. These adjustments are intended to improve ride quality, stability, and crucially, expand interior space. The wheelbase has also been extended to 109.6 inches, a change that directly benefits cabin proportions and passenger comfort. Second-row occupants, in particular, will notice the improvements, with over an inch of additional headroom thanks to the lengthened roofline and stretched wheelbase. Furthermore, the rear doors have been redesigned to open wider, significantly improving ease of access and egress for passengers and cargo.

Inside, the cabin has undergone a complete overhaul, aligning with contemporary automotive trends. The previous generation's dual-screen layout has been replaced by a single, centrally mounted, tablet-like Pleos infotainment system. This new system is a focal point of the dashboard, which features floating elements, vibrant orange accents, and air vents strategically placed to separate the upper and lower sections, creating a distinctly futuristic and modern ambiance. The driver is greeted by a narrow digital gauge cluster and a new squircle-shaped, four-spoke steering wheel. A notable design element in the center console is the stacked transmission tunnel, which incorporates practical features such as wireless phone charging capabilities.
