A new Android banking trojan, dubbed Hirudo, has been identified by cybersecurity researchers. This malware operates by replacing legitimate banking applications with specially crafted, patched versions.
These patched applications are designed to circumvent the built-in security checks of the original banking apps from within. ThreatFabric, a Dutch mobile security company, has identified replacements for eight Indonesian banking applications targeted by Hirudo, indicating an escalation in financial fraud methods.
