Google gives Demand Gen new AI creative and reporting tools

Google announced new Demand Gen updates on March 12, 2024, to enhance advertiser creative performance and campaign measurement across YouTube. These updates aim to simplify creative adaptation and provide deeper insights into campaign effectiveness. Demand Gen campaigns are designed to foster discovery and conversions on Google's visual platforms. The enhancements address the growing importance of YouTube for customer acquisition, with research from Measured indicating that 72% of incremental conversions on the platform originate from new customers. A key new feature is expanded video resizing, enabling advertisers to automatically convert creative assets between various aspect ratios, such as vertical-to-square and vertical-to-landscape. This aims to reduce the manual effort required to adapt creative for different YouTube placements. Furthermore, Google is integrating Gemini-powered recommendations into the Demand Gen campaign creation process. When advertisers upload image and video assets, Gemini will offer automated suggestions for optimizing creative content specifically for YouTube, assisting marketers in asset selection before campaign launch. The platform also introduces Web to App Acquisition Measurement, allowing advertisers to track app installs driven by web campaigns. This new reporting capability provides a comprehensive view of campaign performance by attributing app installs generated through Demand Gen, thereby offering a clearer understanding of return on ad spend.
