French Prosecutors Investigate Racist Abuse of Kylian Mbappé

Prosecutors in France have initiated an investigation into alleged racist remarks directed at footballer Kylian Mbappé by a Paraguayan senator. The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed on Tuesday that the inquiry was launched after the French Football Federation (FFF) submitted a complaint to the national unit dedicated to combating online hate.

Officials are currently evaluating whether to pursue charges against the senator, Celeste Amarilla. Potential charges under consideration include aggravated public insult or incitement to hatred or violence. The investigation stems from social media posts made by Amarilla concerning a World Cup match.
