Framework Laptop 13 Pro Ships With Less RAM

Framework announced a significant and unfortunate pricing update for its upcoming premium Laptop 13 Pro, which will affect customers who have already preordered the device. The company stated that memory configurations for the laptop have been adjusted following cost updates received from its memory supplier. These new costs are reportedly more than double the previously anticipated figures.

As a result of the increased costs, Framework is reducing the amount of RAM included in the Laptop 13 Pro. The base configuration, previously announced with 64GB of LPDDR5 RAM, will now ship with 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM. This change applies to all configurations of the Laptop 13 Pro, including those preordered before this announcement. The company has indicated that this decision was made to maintain the product's overall value and pricing structure in light of the unexpected supplier costs.

Framework is offering several options to customers impacted by this change. Those who preordered the Laptop 13 Pro can choose to keep their order with the reduced RAM at a lower price, receive a partial refund for the difference in RAM cost, or cancel their order for a full refund. The company has committed to transparent communication and customer support throughout this adjustment period, aiming to mitigate any inconvenience caused by the RAM reduction. The updated pricing and RAM configurations are now reflected on the Framework website.
