Ford Recalls 548K Expedition SUVs That May Have Dangerous Center Consoles

Ford recalled approximately 548,000 Expedition SUVs on March 21, 2024, due to a defect in the center console.
The issue stems from the chrome plating on the interior center console trim, which may chip and detach. This detached plating can create sharp edges, posing a laceration hazard to drivers and passengers. The affected model years range from 2018 to 2024.
Ford has not yet announced a remedy for the defect, but the company stated it is working on a solution. Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by mail starting May 20, 2024. The recall number for this issue is 24C12.
This recall is part of a broader trend of automotive safety recalls. In January 2024, Ford also recalled over 1.7 million vehicles due to a defect that could cause the windshield wipers to fail. The company has been proactive in addressing potential safety concerns to maintain consumer trust and comply with regulatory standards.
