eXp Realty Hires Former NAHREP President Carmen Mercado

eXp Realty announced this week that Carmen Mercado has joined the company as a real estate agent. Mercado brings over 20 years of experience in residential real estate, brokerage leadership, housing finance, and affordable lending. She previously served as the national president of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) and as the director of affordable lending at Freddie Mac.

Mercado's career includes roles as a broker, trainer, growth strategist, and a New York Department of State-certified real estate instructor. She has also been recognized on HousingWire’s annual Women of Influence list. Leo Pareja, CEO of eXp Realty, stated that Mercado's career focus on inclusivity and preparedness aligns with eXp's business model. He emphasized that the company is gaining not only an experienced leader but also someone dedicated to improving the skills of other professionals in the industry.

Mercado entered the real estate industry in 2002 after a challenging first-time homebuying experience with her husband, a military veteran. At the time, she was working on Wall Street, but the September 11 attacks motivated her to pursue a career that offered more family time while assisting others with homeownership. She believes that successful agents are those who prepare for opportunities rather than solely predicting market changes, a philosophy she has applied throughout her career.

At eXp Realty, Mercado plans to develop her own team and expand her business in residential and investor markets. She will also engage in business development with corporations, nonprofits, and industry partners, and continue to share market insights to help agents identify opportunities.
