Martin Short's Daughter's Home Listed for $1.8 Million

The Hollywood Hills residence of Martin Short's daughter, Katherine, has been listed for sale for $1.79 million, approximately five months after her passing on February 23. Katherine, who was 42 at the time of her death, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound within the property, following a prolonged struggle with depression and mental illness. Martin Short has spoken publicly about the profound grief his family is experiencing, comparing the loss of his daughter to the death of his wife, Nancy, from cancer in 2010.

Short described his daughter's battle with mental health, including borderline personality disorder, as a "nightmare for the family." He expressed hope that her death would help to destigmatize mental illness and encourage more open conversations about suicide, which he views as a potential terminal stage of an illness. He emphasized the importance of bringing these issues "out of the shadows" and moving away from the societal tendency to hide from the word 'suicide'.

Katherine Short had purchased the home in 2014 for $1 million through a trust. The property, located in Los Angeles's Beachwood Canyon neighborhood, was officially placed on the market on July 15. The listing, managed by Steven Moritz of Sotheby's International Realty, highlights the home's privacy and character. The property records indicate the initial asking price was $1.79 million, as first reported by the Daily Mail.
