Clear+ Membership Fee Increases to $219 Annually

The annual membership fee for Clear+, the airport security expedited entry service, will increase to $219 effective July 1, 2024. This marks the second consecutive year the company has raised its membership dues by $10. The previous annual fee was $209. The cost for adding up to three adult family members to an account remains unchanged at $125. This price adjustment represents a nearly 5% increase from the past year and a 10% hike compared to what members paid just over a year ago. Clear+ allows members to bypass standard Transportation Security Administration (TSA) lines at participating U.S. airports by using biometric kiosks before proceeding to baggage screening. The service is also available at select major sporting and concert venues. Despite the price increase, travelers can still access Clear+ without paying the full annual fee. The American Express Platinum Card, which has an $895 annual fee, will continue to offer a statement credit to reimburse cardholders for Clear dues. The issuer confirmed that this credit will be increased to up to $219 per calendar year, covering the new annual membership cost for eligible cardholders who use their card for the purchase and meet enrollment requirements. This benefit is a key component for offsetting the card's annual fee for many users.
