Building Scientists in the AI Era
Stevens Institute of Technology launched the AI in Biology and Chemistry Community on June 17, 2026, to guide students in leveraging artificial intelligence for careers in health care, biotechnology, and educational technology. This initiative aims to equip students with the skills to utilize AI tools for scientific research and accelerate discoveries within the life sciences. The program fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, allowing students from Stevens, Hudson County Community College, and Saint Peter’s University to engage with AI applications. The curriculum focuses on practical applications, such as using AI for drug discovery, personalized medicine, and understanding complex biological systems. This community serves as a hub for learning and innovation, preparing the next generation of scientists to navigate and contribute to an increasingly AI-driven research landscape. The establishment of this community reflects a broader trend in higher education to integrate AI literacy across scientific disciplines, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for the evolving demands of the scientific workforce.
