Audi Launches Flagship Q9 and SQ9 SUVs for US Market

Audi has officially unveiled its new flagship SUV models, the Q9 and SQ9, marking the brand's most significant and luxurious SUV releases to date. These all-new, three-row vehicles are engineered to meet the specific demands of the U.S. market for full-size luxury SUVs. The Q9 platform boasts an impressive length of 208.9 inches, supported by a 123.5-inch wheelbase, representing the largest chassis Audi has ever produced. The exterior design incorporates a raised shoulder line, a monolithic front fascia, and a straight window line, which Audi states conveys "quiet confidence" rather than aggressive styling. The SQ9 variant is powered by a revised 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, delivering a formidable 591 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. This power is managed by an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission, enabling the SQ9 to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a swift 3.8 seconds. Audi representatives highlighted this performance as class-leading when compared to competitors from Mercedes, BMW, and Land Rover. The SQ9's performance is further enhanced by a rear-biased Quattro all-wheel-drive system, an electronically controlled differential lock, and staggered-width 23-inch performance tires. For a more everyday-oriented experience, the standard Q9 is equipped with a 2.9-liter V6 engine producing 429 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. Lighting technology is a key area where the Q9 and SQ9 showcase their flagship status. The vehicles feature Digital Matrix LED headlights, making their U.S. debut. These headlights utilize arrays of micro-LEDs to selectively dim segments, effectively reducing glare for oncoming traffic. At the rear, third-generation curved digital OLED tail lights represent a world-first for production vehicles, allowing for dynamic light signatures that are visible from wider angles. A notable advanced feature includes turn signals that project stylized indicators onto the pavement at night, enhancing visibility for other road users, such as approaching cars or cyclists, before the Q9 enters a lane. Internally, the Q9 platform offers seating for up to seven occupants. The second row can be configured with available captain's chairs, featuring removable armrests, to provide limousine-level comfort while maintaining accessibility to the third row.
