Anoma A1 Prehistoric Watch Features Hand-Chiselled Design

Anoma has launched the A1 Prehistoric, a limited-edition stainless steel watch inspired by ancient toolmaking techniques. The design concept emerged after Anoma's founder visited a Brancusi sculpture exhibition at the Centre Pompidou, where primitive artifacts sparked an appreciation for raw, unadorned creativity. The watch aims to capture this essence by combining modern watchmaking with deliberate artisanal craftsmanship.

Each stainless steel case and buckle of the A1 Prehistoric undergoes a five-hour hand-chiselling process by engraver Steven Brunel, whose work has been exhibited at the Louvre. This meticulous process, conducted in a workshop in France's Loire region, ensures that each watch case possesses unique textures and markings, evoking an unearthed artifact. The anthracite dial also features a hand-cut sunburst pattern, comprising approximately 600 individual lines, to resemble early stone and flint tools.

Despite its rugged aesthetic, the A1 Prehistoric maintains wearable dimensions, with a 39mm by 38mm case that wears closer to 37mm due to its triangular, lugless shape. The 9.45mm thick case houses a Swiss Sellita SW100 automatic movement and provides 50 meters of water resistance. The watch is completed with a grey grained Italian leather strap. Limited to 100 pieces, the A1 Prehistoric is priced at approximately $3,700 USD (£2,900), with deliveries scheduled to commence in October 2026.
