Adult Swim Announces Cartoon Network Docuseries, Plus Two Anthology Anniversary Specials From ‘Robot Chicken’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Adult Swim announced a five-part documentary series in production to celebrate Cartoon Network's 35th anniversary, slated for release in 2027. The series will delve into the network's history and its distinctive artists across various eras, from the "Checkerboard" to the "Dimensional" periods. In addition to the documentary, Adult Swim will also premiere two anthology anniversary specials commemorating the 20th anniversary of "Robot Chicken." These specials will feature new sketches and revisit iconic moments from the show's history. The network has also commissioned "The Flinstones" revival "Bedrock," which is set to debut in 2027. The "Robot Chicken" specials are expected to air in September 2024, marking two decades since the show's initial premiere on February 20, 2005. The documentary series aims to provide an in-depth look at the creative forces and programming that defined Cartoon Network over its 35 years, examining its evolution and impact on animation.
