In that instance, after the L.A. Department of Building and Safety declared the address a "present, imminent, extreme, and immediate hazard," Mayor Bass, who is currently engaged in a reelection campaign against Councilmember Rama, publicly called for legal recourse against the property's owner. The history of the 7711 Mulholland Drive property is somewhat obscure. Records indicate it was acquired in 2022 by Walking Media Inc. for $1.25 million. This purchase price is notably lower than the market value for comparable properties in the exclusive Mulholland Drive area, where homes frequently command prices double that amount or more. However, the low acquisition cost is attributed to the fact that the house was only partially completed at the time of sale, and it appears that no one ever took up residence.
