Six HBCUs Launch Course-Sharing Partnership

Six Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) launched a course-sharing partnership on July 2, 2026, enabling students to enroll in courses offered by other participating institutions without the need for formal transfer credits. This initiative aims to expand academic options for students and potentially improve graduation timelines.

The consortium, which includes institutions like Clark Atlanta University, Delaware State University, Fisk University, Howard University, North Carolina A&T State University, and Prairie View A&M University, has partnered with Acadeum, an education technology company. Acadeum's platform facilitates inter-institutional course enrollment, allowing students to access specialized courses that may not be available at their home institution. This collaboration is designed to enrich students' educational experiences and provide them with a broader range of academic pathways.

By participating in this program, students can maintain their enrollment status at their primary university while taking courses elsewhere. This approach prevents students from losing credits or delaying their degree progress due to course availability. The partnership is expected to foster greater academic flexibility and support student success by offering a wider selection of subjects and concentrations. The initiative represents a significant step towards collaborative learning environments within the HBCU community.
