Your Tesla Is Twice As Likely To Hit 250,000 Miles As A Subaru: Study

Tesla vehicles are twice as likely to reach 250,000 miles compared to Subaru models, according to a study released this week by consumer insights firm Consumer Reports. The analysis, which examined over 250,000 vehicles, found that 17.8% of Tesla owners reported their cars reaching or exceeding the 250,000-mile mark. In contrast, only 8.7% of Subaru owners achieved this longevity. The study also highlighted that electric vehicles, in general, are not inherently less durable than their internal combustion engine counterparts, with several EV brands demonstrating strong long-term reliability. Toyota and Lexus models also performed well, with 15.1% and 13.5% of their vehicles, respectively, reaching 250,000 miles. The data suggests that advancements in battery technology and electric powertrain design are contributing to increased vehicle lifespan. Consumer Reports' methodology involved surveying owners about their vehicle's mileage and any significant repairs or issues encountered over its lifespan, aiming to provide a comprehensive view of automotive durability.
