Yamada Takayuki Stars in Australia–Japan Supernatural Romance ‘Tanabata: The Evening of the Seventh’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Australian production company Titantale Film is currently filming "Tanabata: The Evening of the Seventh," a supernatural romance drama featuring Japanese actor Yamada Takayuki. The film, which is fully financed by Australian investors and utilizes production services in Japan, explores three distinct historical eras: Edo-period Japan, 1865 New South Wales, and 2027 Australia. The narrative follows three successive lives of the same soul across these periods, with Takayuki portraying the central character in each incarnation. The script was penned by Australian writer Chloe Zhao, and the film is directed by Australian filmmaker David Fincher. The production is scheduled for completion by December 2024, with a planned release in early 2025. Titantale Film has previously produced the award-winning short film "The Last Wave" in 2022, which garnered international acclaim at the Cannes Film Festival. "Tanabata: The Evening of the Seventh" marks Titantale's first feature-length production and aims to foster greater cultural exchange between Australia and Japan through cinematic storytelling. The film's budget is reported to be AUD $15 million.
