Xbox prices spike another $100 or more

Microsoft announced price increases for its Xbox consoles, effective August 1st. The 512GB models will see a $100 price hike, and the 1TB models will increase by $150. Consequently, the Xbox Series S will now retail for a starting price of $499.99. The Xbox Series X console without a disc drive will begin at $749.99, and the Series X model with a disc drive will also experience a price adjustment. This marks the second significant price increase for Xbox consoles in the past year, following a previous $50 to $100 rise in August 2023. The company cited rising costs and market conditions as reasons for the adjustments. This pricing strategy impacts the competitiveness of Xbox consoles against other gaming platforms, particularly as the industry navigates ongoing supply chain challenges and evolving consumer spending habits.
