Xbox follows Apple with price increases

Microsoft announced price increases for its Xbox Series X consoles on July 17, 2024, with the console's price rising from $499.99 to $549.99 in the United States. This marks the first price hike for the Xbox Series X in the U.S. since its launch in November 2020. The company cited rising component costs, specifically for memory and console storage, as the primary driver for the price adjustment. These costs have reportedly more than doubled compared to previous levels. The Xbox Series S console will remain at its current price of $299.99. This move by Microsoft follows similar price adjustments made by other major technology companies, including Apple, which increased prices on some of its products earlier in the year due to supply chain and manufacturing cost pressures. The Xbox Series X price increase is effective immediately in the U.S. and will be implemented in other regions later this year, with specific dates and new pricing to be announced by local teams.
