New TV Shows Premiere July 5-11: The Five Star Weekend, The Man Will Burn

This week's television programming from Sunday, July 5, to Saturday, July 11, features several notable premieres and season debuts. Apple TV+'s "Trying" begins its fifth season on Wednesday, continuing the story of Nikki Newman (Esther Smith) and Jason Ross (Rafe Spall) as they navigate modern parenthood, now complicated by the arrival of Charlotte Riley's character, Kat. The new season will include eight episodes and introduce new cast members such as Celia Imrie, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Colin Morgan, Danielle Vitalis, and Leah Brotherhead.

HBO and HBO Max will premiere "The Man Will Burn" on Thursday at 9 p.m. This four-part documentary series, directed by Jehane Noujaim and Vikram Gandhi, delves into the evolution of the Burning Man festival. The series promises exclusive access to the event's leadership and utilizes years of archival footage to examine the challenges organizers face in maintaining the festival's original counterculture ethos amidst its growth into a large-scale event.

Peacock is set to debut "The Five Star Weekend" on Thursday, based on Elin Hilderbrand's 2023 novel. The series stars Jennifer Garner as Hollis Shaw, a food blogger grappling with grief after her husband's death. To cope, Hollis invites four friends from different periods of her life—Tatum (Chloë Sevigny), Dru-Ann (Regina Hall), Brooke (D’Arcy Carden), and Gigi (Gemma Chan)—to join her in Nantucket for a weekend gathering. The ensemble cast also includes other notable actors, highlighting the adaptation of the popular beach-read novel.
