Webtoon Productions and Espotlight Ink Wattpad Adaptation Deal

Webtoon Productions and Espotlight have entered into a first-look agreement to develop Spanish-language film and television adaptations based on webnovels from Wattpad. This collaboration builds upon an existing partnership that previously yielded the internationally distributed film "Boulevard," produced in conjunction with Sony Pictures International.

Under the terms of this new pact, Espotlight will be granted the initial opportunity to review and select Spanish-language stories originating on the Wattpad platform. This allows Espotlight to secure adaptation rights before they are offered to other production entities. The focus of this deal is specifically on content that will be adapted into Spanish-language media.

Wattpad, a subsidiary of Naver, hosts a vast library of user-generated stories, many of which have achieved significant readership and cultural impact. The platform has become a key source for identifying intellectual property with established fan bases, making it an attractive pipeline for adaptation into film and television. This agreement aims to leverage Wattpad's extensive catalog for the Spanish-speaking market.

Espotlight, with operational bases in Madrid and Los Angeles, specializes in content creation and production.
