Venice Giornate Degli Autori Unveils 2026 Selection

The Venice parallel section Giornate degli Autori (GdG) announced its 2026 lineup on July 25, 2024, dedicating the edition to its late founder Giorgio Gosetti. The selection comprises 25 world premieres, drawn from 1,036 submissions originating from 114 countries. This year's program highlights a significant presence of female filmmakers, with 14 films directed by women.

Italian cinema is also prominently featured, with 13 of the 25 world premieres being Italian productions. The lineup includes 10 films in competition for the GdA awards, one closing film presented out of competition, and five special events. The selection process involved a rigorous review of submissions from a diverse range of global cinematic voices.

The Giornate degli Autori, an independent section of the Venice International Film Festival, aims to showcase emerging talent and innovative cinematic works. The dedication to Giorgio Gosetti, who passed away in January 2024, underscores the section's commitment to his vision for fostering new cinematic narratives and supporting filmmakers.
