Venezuela earthquakes: Thousands injured, missing, without food or water. Here are 4 ways you can help right now

Two powerful earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 magnitudes, struck Venezuela on Wednesday, resulting in at least 589 fatalities and over 3,000 injuries, according to the Associated Press. Thousands remain unaccounted for, with many lacking essential resources like food and water. These seismic events are among the most significant to impact the nation in over a century, with their epicenter located north of Caracas in the La Guaira state. The capital city, Caracas, experienced widespread destruction, including collapsed buildings, and a loss of internet and power, creating chaotic conditions as rescue operations commenced. In response to the disaster, the U.S. Treasury temporarily waived certain sanctions on Venezuela this week, facilitating international relief efforts. Both the United States and other countries have pledged assistance. Acting President Delcy Rodríguez has declared a state of emergency and announced the establishment of a $200 million fund dedicated to rebuilding damaged infrastructure, including hospitals and homes. Humanitarian organizations are mobilizing to provide aid, with the International Committee of the Red Cross dispatching initial supplies from Panama on Friday, including kitchen sets, hygiene kits, and mosquito nets. Venezuela's Red Cross is actively supporting hospitals, rescue teams, and supply distribution efforts.
